Customizzare il firmware NodeMCU per ESP8266 (1/?)

La domanda sorge spontanea : perché dovrei customizzare un firmware che funziona ?
Bene, avete mai provato ad utilizzare un particolare display o un particolare sensore ?
Avete mai avuto problemi rispetto alla quantità di memoria disponibile ?
Queste sono solo un paio delle motivazioni che mi hanno spinto in questa ricerca che, fatemelo dire, non e' stata semplice. Forse per colpa mia.

Sono partito dal fantastico sito NodeMCU custom builds .
E con questo almeno una delle domande sopra avrebbe trovato risposta.
Infatti tramite questo sito è possibile scegliere quali moduli inserire all'interno del firmware che il sito stesso compilerà per noi. Un messaggio via email ci avviserà del completamento ( qualche minuto dopo averlo richiesto di solito ).
Tra le altre cose e' possibile scegliere se compilare dalla versione master e cioè quella "stabile" o da quella dev che, nonostante non sia la master, ha degli indubbi vantaggi, come ad esempio supportare alcuni hardware che ancora non lo sono nella master.
Per ogni modulo c'e' un link alla documentazione ( almeno per i moduli che la hanno ) e si può anche impacchettare il supporto per SSL e per il debug ( consigliato esclusivamente se avete dei grossi problemi con la versione dev )

Quindi, a questo punto avrete il vostro nuovo firmware bello pronto da flashare sul ESP8266

Non sto qui a dirvi come fare. Nel caso un'altro post potrebbe chiarirlo.

In breve ecco pronto il vostro ESP8266 con a bordo il nuovo firmware

Notate che in breve sono riassunte tutte le informazioni richieste per l'identificazione del firmware compresi tutti i moduli che avrete deciso di inserire.

Nel prossimo post risolveremo anche la questione sull'uso di particolari display andando ad intervenire direttamente su alcuni file del firmware per poi ricompilarlo ed ottenerne uno totalmente personalizzato.
